As a mom, I love to see all the fun Valentine card ideas in my children’s goodie bag at the end of the day. Of course, there are plenty with candy. Now, I am not opposed to candy on this special day, but I do try to find a way to have my kids’ Valentines be special without the candy.
Here are some of our favorite Valentine card ideas for kids without candy:
Isabella’s Monster, Preschool
My daughter is 21 months, and I figured dotting one big blog of paint and gluing eyes was just her speed. These turned out so cute. I printed the words from the printable, she blotted the picture and we both glued on the eyes.
Isabella loves to paint, so this was right up her alley. I added a bit of water to my acrylics so it would look a little more fluid. Then I added a little sharpie mouth. I did not let her take my sharpie!

Harper’s Fox Valentine, 1st Grade
Harper is super crafty and her mom is too. She chose this fox equipped with heart features and googly eyes. Cutting out all these hearts kept her really busy. This project took a while, but it turned out so cute. All the kids who pulled this from their bag must have been smiling. Plus this kept Harper (and her mom) busy for hours.
Giselle’s Paper Airplane, 2nd Grade
We went ahead and made the red details on this printable into pink in photoshop for half the class.
Why? Because my daughter knows that I know how and she asked so nicely.
Giselle loves to have options for different kids. She loved folding these up and for her good friends there was space to write a letter inside. I like these because they are a toy and a Valentine. Anything multi-functional and cute is top of our list!
We even got a compliment from the teacher. There is a free printable on the link below.
Farber, 2nd Grade
Farber’s dad Ryan, created this printable for Tinselbox. (He’s so amazing). This is a really fresh look which we haven’t seen before. These were a hit for Farber’s class all wrapped up with yummy goldfish. Download for free. This Goldfish Valentine is a great alternative to candy.
Creative Valentine Card Ideas for Kids Without Candy
I saw a few other Valentines in their little mailboxes that blew me away. Giselle’s friend Paige, cut her hand out of pretty paper, stamped it with “happy love day” and folded the fingers into sign language for “I Love You”. Her mom is a super creative special ed teacher. Isn’t that adorable?

So fun! We are trying to avoid candy as much as possible so these are perfect!
Those are so clever. Probably a good idea to leave out the candy too.
Thanks for sharing at Funtastic Friday!
Completely. This would add just a little sweetness!
