My baby turned three, and I feel so happy to have graduated from the terrible two’s. I am seriously standing in front of my house waiting for someone to drive up and hand me my diploma. It becomes immediately easier, right? This theme was crazy perfect for my little Isabella. She is so cuddly, smiley and strong just as I always imagine a baby brown bear to be. That’s why having a teddy bear picnic birthday party was just so perfect.

Darling Teddy Bear Picnic Desserts
I made a chocolate and vanilla buttercream cake and added this lovely cake topper that says “Isabella is Three.” I used three layers of cake (two chocolate and one vanilla) and my super secret buttercream frosting. Okay, it isn’t a secret because I posted it here. It is 100% as good as it looks. It dries hard and each bite is soft inside and delightful.
If this isn’t your first time here, you already know I am obsessed with scrumptious, yet easy recipes.
This cake was a huge hit with our guests. I always make this frosting, so people start craving the cake before we even start cutting it.
Of course, we had to have cupcakes as well. These little cupcakes were so darn cute.
Teddy Bear Vanilla Cupcakes
If you want the recipe and decorating tips, I posted all about it here. I had to! These were so darn cute. The kids ran off with these little bears, and I could feel their delight.
Teddy Bear Decorations
I adore these invitations we found on Etsy. It was love at first site, so I themed my whole party around it!
I had a lot more decorations about then I photographed. As usual, as the crowds were coming, I had to stop and get to socializing. Only to realize later the decorations were played with and moved all over. Here are a few moments I did capture before the chaos ensued.
I set out some picnic baskets with balloons and bears all around. I loved this little collection in the entry with the sign “don’t feed the bears.” If you love this “don’t feed the bears” sign, you can get the printable here.
When choosing a favor, I think about a lot of things. I love goodie bags, but I already fed these children the most delicious cupcakes. Do I want to send the kids home with more sugary delights?
Most of our guests were 3 and up, but some were two. I also considered something that would span these ages and not be a choking hazard. When I found these beach ball bears, I knew this was it. How cute was it watching each little one walk out holding their beach ball?
At three years old, we had to do some fun toddler activities. The kids had a blast.
Here are some great ideas for 3-year-olds teddy bear activities:
- Parachute play using teddy bear balls
- Singing and dancing to nursery rhymes like Teddy Bear Picnic
- Eating jello bears (see below)
- Giant balloon (just because I really cannot resist big inflatables)
- Teddy bear party in the cute tent
- Pin the tail on the bear
- Bear pinata (see how much fun we had my oldest’s Shopkins party with the pinata)
- Set up a picnic with little box lunches
Bella {playing with} and then eating her Jello bears. Oh, the joys of being three.
We also put up the cute tent, and the kids sat inside feeding the bears play food and putting them to sleep. I love the mind of a preschooler.
I will leave you with this. Whatever theme, whatever you make these are memories that last forever for all the children at the party. That is the beautiful thing about putting so much love into the details.

How adorable! I love your teddy bear theme! Thanks for sharing at Merry Monday this week. 🙂
Where did u get the bear balloon head from? So cute!
This was an oriental trading ball which we gave out as gifts. We just glued it around the balloons and it looked like it was floating. The kids loved taking home these balls. Unfortunately they don’t sell these out of season, but I attached the sunshines so you can see the idea.
